I completed this project during the innovative summer camp Design the Future hosted at Stanford's D-School. The goal of this project was to learn the design process of empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping and testing.
To start we had to determine a problem that we would like to try and solve. We decided to focus on creating a pair of hands free walking devices.
To flesh out my design idea I created multiple prototypes. First a simple mock up to see the general scale, then a more accurate device with the important parts.
Created out of sturdier materials, we finalized our design from lessons learned from earlier tests and prototypes. We used multiple straps that where held to the crutch with strong velcro. This allowed the wearer to remove certain sections of their arm while still having control of the crutch.
