I replicated the Mars Curiosity rover using solidworks. I did this during my intro to solidworks course. Through this project I was able to improve my efficiency with creating parts and assemblies. I am now confident in my ability to use solidworks to create anything big or small.
I used the concentric mate to build the assembly to be able to articulate like the actual rover.
The most complex part I made. I used many different sketches on planes to create the different components.
For this part I used the mirror tool to efficiently create the mast camera.
To construct the connecting rods I used the sweep tool with 3D sketches. I also used the Move and Copy body to replicate details across the part.
I used the circle pattern tool to create the repeating patterns on the wheel.
I solidified techniques used in other parts to easily fabricate this part.
